Lies! This man died since 2012- LEDAP

News circulated last week about one Mr Olatunji Olaide, who was imprisoned for 24 years, for a crime he never committed, by the leader of the Joint Legal action Aids(JLAA), Kinsley Ughe.

Well an NGO, Legal Defence And Assistance Project (LEDAP), has refuted the claim, revealing that Mr Olaide died in 2012, shortly after he was released, and that no one should make any cash donation on his behalf.

They have these to say;

Our attention has been drawn to the fraudulent reports circulating on social media platforms requesting for cash donations from the members of the public to assist Olatunji Olaide who spent twenty four years in prison for an offence he never committed. We were also notified that one Mr. Kingsley Ughe, the Chief Lawyer of Joint Legal Action Aid claimed to have represented Mr. Olatunji Olaide at the Court of Appeal on his conviction for murder. This information is a gross misrepresentation of facts.

Late Olatunji Olaide was convicted by Honourable Justice A. O. Silvia of the Lagos State High Court on February 15, 1995 for murder. Legal Defence and Assistance Project- LEDAP solely handled Olatunji’s case on pro bono basis and secured his release on the 5th of June, 2012 , after the Court of Appeal discharged and acquitted him of murder after spending twenty-four years on death row. Late Olatunji was one of the longest serving prisoners at Maximum Security Prison, Kirikiri, Lagos.

Following his release from prison custody, his original interview with LEDAP was published on our website at http://ledapnigeria.org/bn-at-6-our-stories-our-miracles-sentenced-to-death-an-innocent-man-steps-out-after-24-years-in-prison-olatunji-olaide-shares-his-story-of-survival-freedom-hope/ .

LEDAP has no link whatsoever with the said Mr. Kingsley Ughe, the Chief Lawyer of Joint Legal Action Aid (JLAA). He never represented the late Olatunji Olaide in the Appeal Court.

LEDAP hereby calls the general public to desist from making any donation to any purported organization on behalf of Olatunji Olaide who died shortly after he was released from prison custody in 2012 and to report any further fraudulent requests for donations to the Nigeria Police.

LEDAP is an non-governmental organization of lawyers and law professionals, engaged in promotion and protection of human rights, access to justice and good governance. LEDAP offers free legal representation to indigent persons in prison. For more information on LEDAP, please visit our website, www.ledapnigeria.org.

Thank you.

[video] China releases a cartoon to mock US over it's accusations

China releases a bizarre Lego-like cartoon, mocking US COVID-19 response after the communist country has been criticized by the US president Donald Trump, for allegedly poor handling of the health crisis.  While China has reported no fatalities from the virus in the country over the past week, the white House has accused China of concealing vital data about the pandemic during it's initial stage, and therefore ordered an investigation into reports that COVID-19 had been caused by an accident at Wuhan institute of virology.  In a short video clip posted by China's official news agency Xinhua, the Chinese slammed the accusation against them, claiming that the US was inconsistent at various stages of the pandemic. Recall that two years ago, when the news of him being a member of the Eiye fraternity spread all over the internet space, after a fan noticed a pattern of handshake the artist did on "no favors" video, he came out and debunked the claim, calling it a "Hoax." Well a video of him doing a new version of his song at the annual event of the Black Axe (Aiye) confraternity just surfaced. [video] Police rounded people up and put them in an ambulance with a fake corona virus patient

Police and law enforcement officers across the globe are trying hard to ensure that people adhere strictly to measures put in place to stop the spread of deadly corona virus.    Despite the lock down order, people go about their daily activities as though nothing is happening.  A funny video captured how Indian police officers rounded up some men who are flouting the lock down and forced them into an ambulance with a fake corona virus patient.  Realizing that a corona virus patient was inside the ambulance, the young man tried resisting going inside the ambulance.
