Reasons why female youth corp members leave Abuja after their service year

To so many yet to serve Youth corp members who have not visited Abuja before, FCT is to them, the city which will help to shape their life, if they are by chance, posted to Abuja, for a compulsory 1 year National youth service.

 Abuja, which was projected to contain maximum of 4 million people, was divided into four phases, and 16 cadastral zones, in the original city master plan, which was designed by the city builders in 1979.

However, serving youth corp members or freshly passed out youth corpers, usually find this hard, because majority of them reside in the outskirt of the city centre, therefore they find it difficult to squeeze out spare money from the little savings, which they get from the monthly allowance aka Alawee, which will carter for their transportation, To-and-Fro the city center, in search for better opportunities.

Female Corp members who worked their deployment into the capital city, with the hope of getting husband who are rich and comfortable, end up getting totally disappointed. Because according to most Abuja men, "a lot of ladies in the city are not just into marriage." "A lot of them earn their living from untaxed but booming sex Industry in the city capital." To the men also "it is better to go back to your home town and bring a wife, than to hope to find true love in Abuja.

 As the most beautiful city in Nigeria, the cost of accommodation for a freshly passed out youth corp member is high. It is more expensive than other major cities in Nigeria, when it comes to rent. In fact, half a year's pay will go towards shoe-boxed sized mini flat, in an outskirt of the main city center.

In conclusion, freshly graduated Abuja Corp members in order to survive in the midst of increased cost of living in Abuja, and other social vicies, resort to relocate to their states of origin, or places with low cost of living.
